BalanceBalance is arranging the elements in a piece so that there is an equality from one side to the other. A symmetrical image has perfect balance. Balance can also be achieved by asymmetry or radial arrangement ProportionThe picture above is of a golf cart besides full size truck. This picture represents Proportion because of how the golf cart seems a lot smaller in comparison of the truck. RhythmThe picture is is of a student throwing up cherry tomatoes. This captures rhythm because because of the movement of the other tomatoes. Emphasis a. what the photo is of b. where the principle is within the photograph and c. why the photograph is successful. The picture is of a student holding up the camera. The picture captures HarmonyHarmony is “a consistent, orderly, or pleasing arrangement of parts;congruity”. This happens in art by using similar elements through out a piece that bring it together in a “pleasing” way. Harmony can be considered simplicity. I chose this image to represent a good harmony. VarietyUnity Unity is taking the parts of a piece of art and unifying them in to something better as a whole. Composition is a great way to do this. This image could be separated in to each part as its own piece, but together they become a unified composition..
LinesThe picture is of the rail and stairs in front of the quad of Rancho Buena Vista High. In this picture you can find the element of lines you are able to see the lines of both the railing and staircase. ColorThe picture above is a picture of one of the murals heading towards the band room and locker room. This picture represent the elements of color. The mural that was pictured has a lot of vibrrent colors to it that really stand out to any viewer. ShapeThe mural pictured represents the element of shape Forma. what the photo is of b. where the element is within the photograph and c. why the photograph is successful. The picture above simpily has a precaution cone at the bottom of the hill. The element is shown TextureSpaceValueLinesLine is dimensional and vary in width and length, and direction. Lines also can define the edges of a form. Lines can be horizontal , vertical or diagonal , straight or curved, thick or thin. Lines lead your eye around the composition Alfred Stieglitz; The Pool 1910 ColorColor has three main characteristics ; hue ( red, yellow , or dark it is), and intensitiy ( how bright or dull it is ). Colors can also be described as warm, or cool. Furthermore, Monochromatic - one color plus it’s tints and shades .Complimentary Colors= colors opposite each other on the color wheel. Analogous Colors - colors next to each other on the color wheel. Shapes Shape is dimensional, with a height and width. Organic Shape - a shape made by nature. Not completely defined. Inorganic Shape - manmade - such as triangles and rectangles Laszlo Moholy-Nagy Construction AII, 1924 FormForm is three dimensional , has height and width and depth, Photographers emphasize form by the use of highlights and shadows. TextureThe element in the picture above ids the element of texture. You are able to see the texture on the robe that Marilyn Monroe is wearing..The surface quality of an object that we sense through touch. All objects have physical texture ( think horsehair , dolphin smooth)In a two dimensional work , texture gives a visual sense of how an object depicted would feel in real life. If touched Elliott Erwitt Marilyn Monroe 1956 SpaceI the picture shown above the element that is being used is the of space. The photographer Josef Koudelka focus' on the man but still is able to show the empty mess of the background. It seems as if everyone is going a different direction. Josef Koudelka Slovakia ( taken 1963) themigrationist.net ValueThe element represented in this picture is Value. Value is the lightness or darkness of a surface. It is frequently used when talking about shading, but it is also important in the study of color. Von Wong Deliverance (03-18-2014) http://www.vonwong.com/ High School year is where most teenagers fall into depression, whether it’s because of things going on at home or school. Bullying is a big factor of deprerssion. There’s name calling and people putting you down. ANd when you don’t know how to take all of this in many people turn to self harm because they just feel that they aren’t worthy. Sometimes you just have to remind yourself that you are worthy, that you are beautiful, and most important you are you.
This picture is to remind people going through a hard to time to , like tupac said “, But please don't cry, dry your eyes, never let up. Forgive but don't forget, girl keep your head up” To take these pictures we started out with 1/1000 of second, but since the day was more of a gloomy feel we lowered it to get a brighter feel.. Some things I learned about using a fast shutter speed is that when using a fast shutter speed you are able to catch every moment , every penny dropped and every face expression.
1. We set up the camera on a tripod, in a dark room, in Manual mode with manual focus, I had my partner use glow stick at first up other didn't seem to be bright enough to be captured. So my partner ended up using the 'myLightPaint' app which showed up a lot brighter.
2.During the process of taking the pictures we struggled with that fact that we didn't know whether the pictures were focused or not. We had to gamble and hope for the best. 3. I learned that you have to work fast to get the picture you want. And if the shutter speed is set up to a higher number you can work slower, but of its at a lower number you have to work fast to get the picture. Changing the shutter speed matters becuase a longer shutter will allow more light but may add motion blur while a fast shutter speed can freeze motion but cuts down on the amount of light entering the camera. Shutter speed are both a technical and aesthretic choice a photographer needs to make before releasing the shutter.
The shutter inside your camera controls the duration of time the sensor is exposed to light Capturing blur or th motion in your photograph can emphasize movement and add drama A fast shutter speed is often utilized to freeze the movement of a subject A slower shutter speed can be used to show motion and visualize movement Shutter speed are expressed as seconds or fractions of a second Ex- 1/8000, 1/4000, 1/2000 , As a general rule to prevent unintenional camera shake you should avoid handholding your digital camera at shutter speeds slower than ½ x Focal Length Using a tripod can help eliminate camera shake when using slower shutter speeds The visual blur and suggestion of movement occurs because the subject is moving against a static background Layering motion of different subjects moving different directions at different speeds can set up interesting dynamics within a photograph Fast shutter speeds can make normal subjects appear to freeze in the air When photographing people running relatively close to the camera a shutter speed of 1/1000 second or faster should freeze most motion The distance the subject is from the camera, the speed of the subject, and the focal length of the lens will affect whether the subject is sharp or blurred Slower shutter speeds can help convey the idea of motion and movement Slow shutter speed the combines with panning can help isolate the subject from busy and the distracting background A tripod with a long exposure can capture the fireworks’ trails’ Water movement can be emphasized with long exposures The Camera Obscura is an ancient optical device. In its most basic form it b, a dark room with a small hole in one wall. On the wall opposite the hole, an image is formed of whatever is outside. This image is upside-down (inverted) and back to front.
The size of the hole has a great effect on the picture that is being projected. A small hole produces a sharp image, which is dim, while a larger hole produces a brighter picture which is less well focused. |
